Winter Series Round 1 - Long Mynd

29th October 2021 to 31st October 2021

We're excited to announce the return of the Winter Series! For the first round we will be returning to the Long Mynd in Shropshire. Come along for a fantastic weekend of ridge flying and maybe even some Welsh wave! With a cosy clubhouse, full catering on-site and a warm welcome from the Midland Gliding Club locals, it’s sure to be a great event.

UPDATE: Registration for this event is currently closed whilst we review the entry numbers against the attendance limits at the airfield. Note that if you're not registered on the entry list you will not be able to attend the event. Please bear with us and check back soon. If you have any questions, please get in touch.

This year we are introducing a registration fee of £10 which will go towards your flying fees. The reason for this is that places are limited and we want to ensure that every place is given to someone who is going to turn up. You will only be able to attend this event if you have registered and paid the registration fee.

Please note: Everyone attending must register through this website, even if they don't plan to fly. This is so we know who is coming and to ensure that we have emergency contact details for everyone on-site.

COVID-19 Safety
We need all participants to take a lateral flow test within the 24 hours before arriving at the airfield. You will need to confirm that this test is negative, but you do not need to provide evidence unless requested. You must not come to the airfield if the lateral flow test is positive, and must arrange for a PCR test to be taken. If your subsequent PCR test is negative, you will be able to attend the event.

If you exhibit symptoms of COVID-19 during the event (e.g. a high temperature, cough, or loss of taste/smell), then you must self-isolate immediately and inform the club office by telephone.
Do not attend the airfield if you have confirmed or suspected COVID-19.

Supervision & Safeguarding
UK Junior Gliding organises the Winter Series to promote gliding and encourage flying through the winter months at adventurous airfields. During flying and other organised activities, the UKJG team will maintain an appropriate level of supervision to ensure everyone's safety and welfare. The supervision of under-18's is the responsibility of the parents or a nominated responsible adult who is on-site during the event. Please contact the team if you have any questions relating to supervision or safeguarding.

Temporary Membership Form
Midland Gliding Club needs a temporary membership form from each pilot before they can fly. If you're under 18, you will need a parent's signature on the form. You can download a copy to print and sign here.
